Helambu Gosaikunda Langtang Trek

Helambu Gosaikunda Langtang Trek is one of the best trekking destinations with picturesque, cultural, and heritage Trek in Nepal, considered by numerous trekkers to be one of the best secret lands in Nepal. It is without any difficulty to get to lacking flight; just can go only by drive. However, it’s in the north of the capital city of Kathmandu with high Himalaya peaks on each side of the valley. Langtang valley trek is unfolding very rich traditions, culture, and religion. Origin of Tibetan ethnic groups on the back dropped dramatic sceneries of the Mountains. Increase the changes combined with multipart geology and topography has created a unique mix of flora and fauna found in this area.

Helambu Gosaikunda Langtang Trek trail heads through many different landscapes ranging from evergreen forests, many beautiful waterfalls. Likewise, disordered river streams to sub-alpine grassland closer to the mountains and relatively fewer trekkers than the Annapurna and Everest. The peak outline of Dorje Lakpa (6990m), Gang Chhenpo (6388m), Lenpo Gang (7083m), Langtang Lirung (7246m), and many more others. The well-known mountaineer or Himalayan explorer. “Bill Tillman,” said Langtang that it was ‘‘One of the most beautiful valleys in the world”.

Helambu Gosaikunda Langtang Trek

On your arrival day in Kathmandu, You will be received by the representative staff from Himalayan Trails Trekking & Climbing P Ltd with proper greeting. When you have had your time to settle in and freshen up. In the evening, there will be a welcome dinner hosted by Himalayan Trails Trekking & Climbing. For dinner, you will be served excellent cuisine.

The very next morning, after breakfast you will leave for a full day sightseeing tour around Kathmandu valley. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites including the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath) which is one of the largest stupas in the world.

After breakfast drive to Sundarijal something 15km from Kathmandu which takes approx. 35-40 minutes. We obseve Sundarijal water fall and water shed which is supplied to Kathmandu Valley, and passing by Tamang Village on the way to Chisopani via Mulkharka. We go through deep forest after Mulkhara. 4-5 hours of hike takes us to Chisapani.

After breakfast we continue our trekking towards Kutumsang, passing through classic, delightful village with some shops and good mountain views. We walk uphill and downhill and pass through Gulbhanjyang, the Sherpa, Gurung, and Tamang settlement. Gulbhanjyang showcases the cultural aspect of local ethnic people. Crossing the jungle and terraced fields, we eventually reach Kutumsang.

After breakfast we climb up in a steep and eroded trail passing through the rhododendron and fir forest. The beautiful sunset view awaits you as you reach Tharepati. Enjoy the nice views of Jugal Himal, Numbur Himal, and of course the awesome views of Helambu Valley right below.

After breakfast from Tharepati the trek, after initially descending, clings to the mountainside and winds its way through rhododendron forests to Phedi. There is a small chorten here to Japanese who died in 1992 when a Thai Airways Airbus crashed into a mountainside near here killing all 113 people on board.

After breakfast trek up into the mountains through Laurebinayak Pass, with views of peaks in either direction, and we may well cross the snowline. We then trek down to the magical holy lakes of Gosaikunda. Surrounded by high mountains on the north and east, this lake is grand and picturesque, and the Trishuli River originates from the ponds of Gosaikunda. It is believed to have originated from the digging of the land by the Trishul (holy 3-pointed sword) of lord Shiva after he drank the poison from samudramanthan (sea- charning) and desperately wanted cold water to drink quenching the overwhelming heat of the poison. The large rock in the center of the lake is said to be the remains of a Shiva shrine and it is also claimed that channel carries water from the lake directly to the tank at the Kumbheshwar Temple in Patan of Kathmandu valley.

We can hike up the hill above (4,640m) for the views. We can also circumnavigate the first two of the five sequential lakes. For cultural reasons the lakes should be hiked round clockwise. trek past two more lakes and some rock carvings of Ganesh down to Laurebina Yak. Trek down through forest and across terraced slopes to the small village of Thulo Syrabu.

After breakfat, we cross the Bhote Kosi River by a suspension bridge towards ‘old’ Syabrubesi, a cluster of. Another suspension bridge carries us over the south side of the Langtang Khola. We climb slowly to Doman (1680m) and continue over a rocky ridge. The trail climbs gently up to Bamboo. Opposite the river we will see near vertical cliffs covered with cactuses. After Bamboo we cross the Langtang Khola on a new suspension bridge to the north bank. The forest becomes sparser and drier on this side of the river, consisting mainly of scrub nettles and oaks. We climb steeply on a good trail to Rimche.

After breakfast, you will have a pleasant walk and follow the trail through rhododendron and pine forest for around three hours to reach Ghoda Tabela. After reaching Lama Hotel, you will walk for another three hours on the scenic trail that takes you to Langtang village (3500m) where you will relax for the evening and explore. Langtang Village is the old local village and the views from here are spectacular. It’s necessary to stop here for acclimatization rather than trekking directly to Kyanjin Gompa.

After breakfast, we start our trek towards Kyanjin Gumba by heading towards an easy climb through two Bhotia hamlets – Mundu and Sindum with great views of Langtang Lirung, Ganchenpo and Langshisa RI. We will continue on a trail that climbs the terminal moraine of Lirung Glacier and descends down to the gompa then make a short descend to Kyanjin Gompa.

Today is the rest & hike day so we spend the whole day exploring Tserko Ri which will also help us acclimatize to the high altitude. We begin early in the morning. The trail passes through yak pastures before ascending to Tserko Ri. The sunrise view from the top of Tserko Ri is extraordinary. We get back to Kyangjin Gompa by late afternoon and explore the beautiful monastery while enjoying views of the Himalayas, glaciers, birds and yaks.

If you want to explore more in Kanjin Gumba we will provide one more extra date in your itinerary. If you are unable to visit Gomba after returning from Tserko ri you can used this day.

Our trail retraces to Lama Hotel, all the way downhill, but you will see fantastic views of towering mountain what you have missed on the way up. We continue through the hill side to Large Sherpa inhabitant Sherpa Gaun.

After breakfast, we continue through the Sherpa inhabitant and short descend to Bridhim village. Trail descends to the confluence of Langtnag River and Bhote Koshi River towards Syabru Besi.

After having our brekfast we drive from Syabru Besi to Kathmandu. We drive through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Kathmandu. The first part of our drive to Trishuli Bazaar is along a gravel and bumpy road. We then access a well paved road to Kathmandu.

You are free to spend the day at your leisure to relax, refresh, and perhaps take a trip to explore more of the city, before the group’s final evening celebrating huge achievement with a special dinner. The basic and important idea of trekking kit we try our best to keep you dry, warm and protect from the cold, waits and sun able to progress comfortably in the Himalaya and to be comfortable during the day, evening and night.

Bags: Duffle Bag, will provides by Himalayan Trails Trekking with Logo or if you prefer to have your own duffle bag / Rucksack for the porter to carry and one day bag pack to carry your valuable and needed things for the day.
Head wears: Sun Hat, Woolen Hat

Possibility to Buy and Hire

Almost all kind of equipment (Fake and Branded!) you can hired and buy in Kathmandu and also there are some possibilities in higher in Mountain like you are going to EBC you can buy in Namche Bazaar. For the Annapurna you get chance in Pokhara anything you may need in terms of equipments, food snacks, medicines and obviously the Souvenirs.

Baggage Allowance on Domestic flight to Dolpo, Jomsom & Lukla 

Please note down that standard Baggage limits in domestic airlines are 10kg and with hold in the hand bag 5kg. Of course you can live your extra Travel bad or city clothes Hotel in Kathmandu or Pokhara. Surly it can be good Tip for you that you can wear your heavy things Jackets, trekking boots to help cut down on the weights of your bag. If you have extra heavy baggage then pay an extra charge for airplane and we need to get more porters, so therefore it will charge you an excess cost for the trip to be paid in cash.
